Menzerna creams and polishes are developed especially for the industrial processing of highly sensitive wood coatings. With manual or automated application, they produce a deep, glossy finish even with dark colours.

Solid bar compounds require the use of buffing wheels; while single buffing wheels can be mounted to handheld rotary polishers they are less efficient than stationary polishers can be.  It’s sometimes preferable to use a handheld automotive style polishers with paste and/or liquid compounds, and the same level of gloss can be achieved. Polishing hard polyester coatings requires the use of paste compounds which contain a higher concentration of polishing abrasive powder compared to liquid compounds.  That said, both paste and liquid compounds can be used on all types of wood coating with excellent results, including polyurethane and nitrocellulose lacquer among others.

Prior to polishing, (wet) sand the surface with progressively finer sandpaper to eliminate any surface imperfections or orange peel, finishing at 800-1000 grit. Use low/moderate speed and pressure combined with a wool or heavy cut polish to remove sanding marks, then with a less aggressive pad to bring the surface to a high gloss finish. We strongly suggest using different pads for different compounds to avoid cross contamination. Rotary machines will remove imperfections more quickly but can generate more heat and result in holograms. These can be corrected with dual-action polishing machines when you do your finishing work.

Liquid polishing compounds can be used instead of pastes, if desired – but you should wet sand to at least 1200-1500 grit and cut with a wool pad and Menzerna Super Heavy Cut 300/Green Line, Heavy Cut 400/Green Line, Heavy Cut 1000, or Heavy Cut 1100 before refining with medium cut and finishing polishes on softer foam pads.
