Premium Primary / Heavy Cut Airway Buffs Premium European-style, firm buffing wheels designed for cut & colour buffing.
After a long wait, we're proud to introduce Spectrum Professional Series buffing wheels made by Hilzinger America. These buffing wheels sport higher grades of raw material than are regularly available in North America, and come combined with exceptional construction and clinch ring strength. Though they come at a greater cost, they more than make up for it through enhanced durability, efficiency, retained firmness throughout their lifespan, and - more importantly - finer finishes in less time/fewer steps. Please note that the cotton used in these buffs tends to hold compound much better than domestic fabrics - as a result, particularly after a break-in period, it's easier to accidentally overload your compound. A little goes a long way!
To achieve a beautiful mirror finish, metal (like any material) needs to be prepared by cutting down the surface to level out highs and lows. Deep scratches diffuse light and reduce your clarity; cut them out with coarse cutting compounds and firm buffing wheels that enhance the cut-down effect! Spectrum recommends combining this wheel with Menzerna's 439T Heavy Cut , 456G Heavy Cut , 333 Medium Cut , or P14F Medium Cut compound.
Made in the USA! Please note that because European buffs are built to the millimeter, these new buffs may require the use of our updated self-centering safety flanges for best fit.

Premium Secondary Cut / Colour Airway Buffs Premium European-style semi-firm buffing wheels designed and constructed for cut & colour buffing on metal.

Many polishers subscribe to a two-step polishing process, but this is how maximum depth, colour, and clarity are achieved. By utilizing these secondary cut/colouring buffs (combined with medium cut & finishing compounds), you can more efficiently removing heavy-cut scratches from your surface and put colour into the metal before completing that "wet" look with finishing buffs and Super Finish compounds. Spectrum recommends combining these buffs with Menzerna's P14F , P164 , and 333 medium cut compounds and/or P275 , P126 , 480W , and 480BLF finishing compounds.
Made in the USA! Please note that because European buffs are built to the millimeter, these new buffs may require the use of our updated self-centering safety flanges for best fit.

Premium Mirror Finishing Airway Buffs Premium European-style buffing wheels designed and constructed with soft cotton for the smoothest & cleanest surfaces.

At this point, you will not be accomplishing any cutting action - you will simply be minimizing (and ideally, eliminating) any buff trails and fine scratches from previous stages. Soft and flexible buffing wheels allow you to apply the finest compounds gently and evenly, resulting in a beautiful, flawless mirror finish. Spectrum recommends combining these buffing wheels with Menzerna's 480BLF Finish , 480W Finish , P275 Finish , P126 Finish , P175 Super Finish , and M5 Super Finish compounds (or any of the paint/plastic focused compounds due to the sensitivity of these surfaces). We normally suggest jumping from a heavy/primary cut (orange, yellow) to the 86/82 untreated or from a secondary cut (clear treat) to the 60/60 untreated.

480BLF Aluminum Finish Produces a high gloss and fine mirror finish on aluminum.
Menzerna 480BLF is a finishing compound developed especially for aluminum surfaces; it's also suitable for brass and other non-ferrous metals. You may find this compound less suited to flannel as it's relatively dry, dense, and needs higher buffing wheel speeds/heat for best results (e.g., no less than 2600RPM suggested).
